Cato Corner Holiday Pairings

January 19, 2017

Mark had a great time sharing his holiday pairings on WFSB 3 recently! Though it doesn't take much more than a few good chunks of cheese, a handful of nuts, and a nice jam, we enjoyed having the occasion to dream up these festive pairings. On Mark's cheeseboard, you'll find:

-Dutch Farmstead on a dried orange crisp, topped with pomegranate molasses and pomegranate seeds

-Bloomsday on a cinnamon apple pie cookie, topped with blueberry-limoncello jam from Winding Drive Gourmet Specialties

-Aged Bloomsday on a ginger snap, topped with a fig jam

-Drunken Hooligan on a slice of bartlett pear, topped with a candied pecan

Here is a link to his appearance.

For a More Casual Cheeseplate...

Sometimes there is no need to fuss over presenting the perfectly composed cheese plate, and it can be as fun to mix and match from a handful of great cheeses and dependable accoutrements.

Cato Corner Monger, Dan, pieced together a plate to invite his guests to play with their own pairings. Starting with four cheeses -- Vivace Bambino, Dairyere, Hooligan, and Black Ledge Blue -- guests noshed on each with helpings of fresh cut apples, raisins, cured salumi, spiced nuts and olives, spicy pepper jelly, honey, and crunchy date crackers.
